Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its result. We do not keep a separate log or database of search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained so the team can answer it and keep necessary correspondence. We do not disclose that message outside the organization unless a binding legal duty requires disclosure.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the server may receive basic technical and usage details about the visit:
- Timestamps for each page view
- The referring site, when that information is available
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The IP address assigned to the device
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on a visitor's device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic in aggregate, such as which pages are used most and where visits end. A browser can block or remove cookies at any time, although doing so may change how some features work.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
DeKalb County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record data. It publishes general directions to records held by the DeKalb County Sheriff, the courts, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Central Repository, and the Missouri Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not turned into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their own privacy policies govern anything submitted through a tool, including retention and sharing choices that we cannot set. Review the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to a sheriff, court portal, Missouri agency, legal resource, or outside search service. Once a visitor follows an external link, that destination's privacy rules apply. Check those rules before giving the destination personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. That processing is controlled by the provider.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Data may still be available to a narrow set of service providers or authorities:
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
- Advertising networks that deliver ads on the pages
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search providers that receive a query submitted through their tool
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for data under our control. No internet system can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This resource is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, it will be deleted after notice and verification.
Your Data Rights
Privacy rights can vary with the law that applies to a visitor. Missouri Sunshine Law Chapter 610 governs records held by public governmental bodies; it does not create privacy rights for data held by this private site. Subject to applicable law and any valid exception, a visitor may ask us to:
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
- Request deletion of personal data
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request access to personal data held about you
